Your Why
Entrepreneurs aren’t just big dreamers, they are big doers. To be fulfilled in our lives, it isn’t enough to have ideas and dreams, we have to move forward boldly and with conviction. To many of our friends, family and colleagues, we always seem to be chasing the impossible dream, but without the great musical score.

Earlier this year I returned from speaking at a conference for entrepreneurs and blasted the ears of my mastermind group with concerns not only with that event, but with most of the events I’ve done in the last year.
First, I said, there is a sense of frustration and even desperation among entrepreneurs. Usually the most optimistic, hopeful people on the planet, I am finding that even seasoned entrepreneurs are experiencing doubt and fear, are second guessing their instincts and expertise, and frozen in place – looking for something that will reconnect them to their dreams and visions and put them in motion.
FIRST WHY: You want to put your dream in drive!
Second, I have observed that entrepreneurs feel out of control at these events. There isn’t time to put anything in context, let alone put anything in motion. The information rushes out at them so quickly, speaker after speaker delivering gems while they scramble to write it down, take it in, figure out what to do with it. All the while they’re holding back a little of their emotional energy because they’re waiting for the kicker, the price tag, what it will cost to connect to this expert whose advice and support they truly need. That’s no way to learn.
SECOND WHY: You want to be in the driver’s seat!
Third, entrepreneurs are a lonely bunch. These conferences promise the opportunity to bond with other entrepreneurs, develop mutually beneficial relationships and support structures, yet I see participants having to make the difficult decision of whether to spend time getting to know other participants or hear all of the speakers. There’s seldom any structured opportunity for sharing challenges and solutions, dreams and goals, or resources and encouragement.
THIRD WHY: You want to grow your fellowship with people who will contribute to your dream and allow you the joy of contributing to theirs!
My mastermind buddies are my professional inner circle – my fellowship. Many of them have also been part of my personal inner circle for years, so they know me pretty well.
They listened with their ears and their hearts and then they said, “So, Dixie, when are you having your event?”
Of course I said, “Oh I’m not going to do an event, but if I did here’s what I’d do.”
The rest, as they say, is history. Or it will be. This is history in the making and I invite you to be part of it.
